Chapter 1 – Novice Halo (1)

It was lunchtime in City S's prosperous financial district.
Office workers poured out from the nearby buildings like packs of wolves scavenging for food.
The women' heels clicked-clacked on the pavement, and the men's suits were neatly pressed and stiff.
Their key cards were hanging on their neckties and swinging back and forth on their chests.
These elites of elites were immaculately dressed.

In the crowd, there was a girl that stood out like a sore thumb.

Everyone that passed by her took a second look in shock.
After all, there were very few people that dared to wear pajamas in the financial district at noon.

The girl was wearing pajamas with brown bear print.
Her long hair was softly draped behind her shoulders.
Her small face –

In fact, although everyone thought the girl was dressed strangely, they felt that her small face was unexpectedly holy and beautiful, as pure as an angel.
Her fair skin was flawless.
Her guileless eyes were crystal clear.

Anyone that happened to meet her eyes instinctively wanted to avoid her gaze in fear that she would see through to their hidden despicable and narrow-mind self.

However, something streaked through the sky in an arc and quickly attracted everyone's attention.

Almost immediately, there was a loud bang in the middle of the road, and a hole appeared in the flat and gray asphalt road.

It looked like a fallen meteorite.

There was the sound of braking vehicles and honking.
Many pedestrians halted.
A bold driver opened the car door, got out, and walked to the crater.

The girl didn't even bother looking in that direction and walked forward as if nothing had happened.

“Just that thing?” The girl asked in her head.

A blithe and sweet-sounding male voice answered, “That's right.”

Suddenly, a scream broke out on the road.

The zombie infection had started.
