Chapter 13: Mixed With A Terrifying Aroma

Alvin sent Professor Wilson away only to see that it was ten o’clock, and he had to rush back.
The restaurant business still had to be done. The school did not pay him any wages, and he still had to earn his living expenses from the restaurant.

He greeted Olivia, walked out of the office, and took a tour of the school, shocking the brats. Seeing the trembling look of the rascals, Alvin nodded with satisfaction. He drove back to his restaurant in the pickup truck.

It was almost 11 o’clock when he got back to the restaurant, and Alvin pulled over to the side of the road. Dom wisely opened the door and jumped down, then closed the door with his front paws, shaking his body, his shiny black fur showed ripples like water in the sunlight. Yawning comfortably, Dom ran to the door and said hello to Sol, and the two wolves touched their heads. Then he went to the other side of the door and lay down.

There was a pile of dismantled construction waste piled up at the door.
It seemed that Uncle Cheng’s construction progress was not bad.

Pushing the door into the restaurant, He saw Jessica wiping glasses at the bar. At this moment, her mood seemed to have improved with the progress of the restoration of the house. Seeing Alvin coming in, she gave him a big smile.

It wasn’t dinner time yet, and there were not many customers in the restaurant.
A young Hispanic woman and a black woman saw Alvin and quickly stood up.

With tears in her eyes, the black woman opened her arms and gave Alvin a heavy hug.
She rested her head on Alvin’s shoulder and said, “Thank you! Thank you! Alvin, you are my savior, you are a good man! Thank you!”

Alvin was stunned by her words, he didn’t know where to put his hands in embarrassment, and looked at Jessica with questioning eyes. Jessica looked at Alvin’s overwhelmed expression with amusement and mouthed to Alvin, “Food truck, Archie.”

Oh, that was it. Alvin pushed the black woman away gently and asked, “Are you, Archie?” He looked at another Latino woman, “And you are Lilith?”

The Latino woman inherited the warm tradition of South American girls and gave Alvin a warm hug and left a thick lip print on his cheeks. “Yes, I’m Lilith, thank you! Alvin, God will bless you!” This Lilith was quite beautiful, estimated to be no more than thirty years old, with a hot body, but the pressure of life made her look a little haggard. A food truck from Alvin gave her renewed hope in life. “If possible, I would like to invite you to my house for dinner tonight, in order to thank you for your generosity.” After speaking, she looked at Alvin with shining eyes, as if she had a lot to say.

This obviously was an invitation with additional rewards, which made Jessica in the bar snort heavily. The glass in her hand made an overwhelmed “crack” sound, and it was in danger of being destroyed at any time.

Alvin shuddered, patted Lilith on the shoulder, and gently pushed away Lilith, who was leaning against his chest and looked up at him. With a smile, he said, “I have received your thanks! My only hope is that you can run the fast food truck seriously and work hard.
The world is cruel to us, but we can’t give up hope!”

What Alvin did, made the two women very moved, and they kept wiping away tears and kept saying “Thank you!” The two black boys at the same table with them also stood up, hammered their chests with their fists, and pointed their fingers at Alvin, which probably meant, “Brother, I will remember the kindness in my heart, you can find me if you have anything! I will go through fire and water without hesitation!” something like this.

As the principal of a community school, Alvin was still very sensitive, and he waved to the two boys, “Come here, boys.”

The two black boys ran over excitedly, and just as they were about to say hello, they were stopped by Alvin raising his hand, saying, “Boys, skipping class is a serious crime in my school!” The two excited boys only reacted at this time, when Alvin said it.
Alvin, the de facto ruler of the nearby three blocks, a great man, was also the terrifying principal of the community school.

The two boys, with their black faces, brushed with a layer of white ashes, lowered their heads tremblingly, waiting for the trial of the principal.
These two had obviously suffered losses in the past, knowing that finding excuses would only make the punishment heavier.

Seeing their good confessive attitudes, Alvin smiled tolerantly and said, “Since you have the energy to skip classes, then clean the sidewalk at the door for me!” Looking at the two boys who wanted to run out, he continued, “It’s not just today, it’s the entire week.
I usually get up at five o’clock in the morning.
When I get up, I want to see that I can lie down and sleep on the sidewalk in front of me.
It’s eleven o’clock, and you can still have lunch if you hurry to school now.”

The two black boys looked at each other desperately, bowed their heads in dejection, informed their mothers, and went to school.

Archie, a black woman, seeing her two sons being punished, not only was she not angry, but she also hugged Alvin, “Thank you so much, Alvin, now only you can control these bad boys.
Sometimes I’m afraid they’ll go to jail like their dad.” With that, the sentimental woman began to wipe away her tears again.

Alvin smiled and said to the two women, “It’s getting late, I’m going to start my business, you can go and sit down first, and I’ll treat you to a steak at noon.” Driving them to their seats he went into the bar and put on an apron, lit all the ten burners on the stove, put ten small iron plates on, and brushed them with a layer of olive oil. The steak was marinated in advance and could be fried on the iron plate as soon as the oil was hot.

After working for a while, Alvin turned around, and while Jessica, who was still looking at Lilith and muttering something bad, tapped her head, “Go and call Uncle Cheng down and let him have a meal and rest for a while.

Jessica held her head, glared at Alvin hatefully, and ran upstairs to call Uncle Cheng.

When the aroma of the steak permeated the restaurant, guests came in one after another.
It was like this every day as if these people could calculate the time.

There was a steak half an inch thick and palm-sized on an iron plate, pasta, and a fried egg. The first one was given to Uncle Cheng, who was huddled in the corner of the bar. “Try my craftsmanship, don’t be so restrained.
Uncle Cheng, you can be more casual, now you are a guest.”

There was no order service here as there was only one dish, sizzling steak for $20 each. Drinks were only sold at night. Jessica was busy serving a glass of lemonade to all the guests and then used a pine tray to deliver the steaks to the guests’ tables in order.

Many of the guests who came here were attracted by the name.
The nearby residents were busy with their lives at the moment, and they would not come here at noon. Only at night would they come here to order a beer and relax together when Alvin’s restaurant was not so busy.

Alvin, standing in front of the stove and listened to a few young men in suits and leather shoes in amusement.
One look and he saw a young elite, listening to a blond young man boast, how he dared to break into Hell’s Kitchen alone to find this restaurant. It was said that the steak here tasted very special, and the aroma of the steak mixed with the horror of Hell’s Kitchen would have a special taste.

Alvin knew this guy, his adventures in Hell’s Kitchen could be written into a book of jokes. For the sake of his efforts to advertise his restaurant, he didn’t want to expose him.
