Chapter 48 – No wonder Su Han blackened in the end… (1)

“I’m heading out to school.”

“Oh, okay.
Be safe!”

Su Ran was a bit surprised that Su Han greeted her before he took off.

The two of them had been living together for a few days now but that seemed to be the first time he had greeted her on his way out.

Perhaps, it was a habit that he carried over from when he was living with the original owner – that Su Han did not usually announce that he was on his way out to school.
Besides, the majority of the time, Su Han would have been long gone by the time Su Ran woke up.

“Oh,” Su Han responded, a little surprised.
He paused for a little after he finished putting his shoes on.

“I cooked two eggs.
I am bringing one with me; there’s one more left in the pot.
Oh, and there’s a steamed bun too.

As she didn’t know how to cook and felt that having take out all the time was very unhealthy, Su Ran’s solution was to stockpile a lot of steamed buns, noodles, and eggs, etc.
inside of the refrigerator.

It seemed to have become a habit as of late.
When Su Han made his own breakfast in the morning, he’d also prepare Su Ran’s.

“Oh, okay.
Thanks, son!” Su Ran nodded and smiled at Su Han who was looking at her coldly.

Hearing the word “son” coming from Su Ran made Su Han feel particularly awkward.
There was a burning sensation at the tips of his ears.

“Um…”

“Hmm?” Looking at Su Han, who obviously had something he wanted to say, Su Ran didn’t say anything.
She just blinked and looked at Su Han with her eyes beaming.

Unfortunately, as much as Su Ran had stared so much that her eyes had turned dry, she still didn’t hear what it was that Su Han was going to say.

“I’m taking off,” Su Han dryly said before taking his backpack and leaving.

“PFFFT.” Su Ran finally couldn't help but laugh out loud when the door closed.

Haha, that awkward little kid.
He should have just asked if he wanted her to go to the parent-teacher conference.
It wasn’t like she’d embarrass him or anything.

Su Ran smiled to herself.

After Su Han had left, Su Ran, too, picked up her purse and got ready to leave after she had tidied up a little around the house.

She even put on some light makeup before she left the apartment.

Right after she had walked out, Su Ran ran into Wang-jie next door along with DaBao’s grandma from upstairs.
They were coming home with bags of groceries in their hands.

“Yo, Xiao Su.
You look so pretty today.
Where are you heading out to?”

Ever since Su Ran had given away two large bags of fish and shrimp, her neighbors no longer avoided her like a plague.

“I am going to Su Han’s parent-teacher conference,” said Su Ran with a smile.

“Oooh, the parent-teacher conference,” said DaBao’s grandma.
“Su Han is in junior high school, right?”

“He is, indeed.”

“That’s good.
Su Han seems to be a very mature child.”

“I agree.
Not like my Da Bao at all.”

“Da Bao is still at the playful age.
It’s good that he’s outgoing.”

“Meh, not really.”

“I’m not just saying it.
They say that outgoing kids are the smart kids.”

“Oh, hahaha, right.”

Su Ran felt that after living here for a few days, there had been marked improvement in her EQ that she had always lacked.

Just look at how happy she managed to make DaBao’s grandma with her empty words.

Seeing that Su Ran was about to leave, DaBao’s grandma shoved a few oranges into her purse.
