One afternoon, she came to school ten minutes late.
The female student apologized and got to her seat, not uttering a single world throughout the lesson.
Even when she was asked questions, she didn’t call upon ‘Mo Mo’ like usual.

When no one was around in between classes, Yang Mo saw her crying silently on her desk alone.

There was some difficulty for Yang Mo to find out the reason.
The gangster from next class stopped her on the way to school and touched some of her body parts in a mocking manner.

The female student looked at him with teary eyes and timidly asked, “Mo Mo, can you not tell anyone about this?”

Yang Mo stared into the pool of tears in her eyes as anger surged up all at once.
Then, in front of the bustling crowd, he dragged the culprit from the neighbouring class into the men’s toilet.

The teacher knocked and shouted outside the door that Yang Mo locked up, but he refused to budge.

The gangster naturally wouldn’t dare to admit to the teacher about that cowardly, nasty thing he did.
Yang Mo also kept his mouth south, so this incident was simply labelled as a fight between students.

This incident led others to think that Yang Mo was that girl’s boyfriend so no one dared to hit on her anymore after that.

The female student transferred to another school later on.
Before she left, she told Yang Mo that she would remember him for the rest of his life.

Yang Mo had never been in love before, nor did he like anyone.
He simply couldn’t stand seeing that pitiful, aggrieved look of a child or a small animal licking their own wounds.

Yang Mo became famous with that one fighting incident.
This scary legend followed him as he entered high school.
With that, be attracted a bunch of juniors and became the ‘boss’.
He even managed to make a few decent friends and attracted some suitors as well.

However, these people were always like passing visitors in his life.
Yang Mo couldn’t remember their appearances anymore and their names had long since gone with the wind.

…Then came university.

He was still the same.
Without much of a dream, as if he arrived in this world only for a long-distance travel journey.
He fell in love with programming in the second year of university, so he thought he wanted to continue doing it all the time.
But in fact, his whole lifetime consisted of only one colour – stable, uneventful and simple.
That might not entirely be a bad thing either.

However, just when he pulled open the windows in his dorm room and yelled out an ‘idiot’ towards the centre of Seastone Apartment where a man in white hoodie stood – it was as if the windows to his life was opened as well as all kinds of colours and fresh air rushed in.

Turned out that white hoodie guy was named Han Shi Yu.

After meeting and falling in love under inexplicable reasons, Han Shi Yu for a period of time was obsessed with writing him ‘love letters’.
Those short phrases and poems did not trigger Yang Mo’s emotions, but he could at least feel that this guy had an ability to spontaneously come up with eight hundred words on the spot whenever he wanted.

That guy clung to him and chattered without a stop all-day long.
Occasionally, he would fondly say things like: “I am so very afraid of connecting with your soul, it must be because you are too beautiful.”

Yang Mo: “Speak in fucking human language.”

Han Shi Yu: “I’m-sorry-I-was-wrong-senior.
I have an urgent thing to tend to so I can’t drop by today.”

Yang Mo: “Oh.”

When they made love, Han Shi Yu would habitually graze the stitch marks on his waist, staring at the old scars on his body with an upset look as he mumbled, “If I had met you earlier, then these injuries wouldn’t have been on you.”

Sometimes, these unintentional yet genuine words were truly what moved Yang Mo’s heart.

He was silent and started thinking about other things.

“”

Why, when and due to what opportunity did he fall in love with Han Shi Yu?

By the age of 36, Yang Mo still hadn’t figured out the answer.

He had a dream about his mother from some remaining pieces of memories.
As well as her words that he clumsily yet neatly wrote down in his mind as a child.

He felt that liking someone should be the act of two hearts coming together, both which were whole and beating.

And the two of them were there more so to fill up the gaps.

His mother said that two identical magnetic poles needed to overcome a lot of resistance to meet and stay together.

But for Yang Mo who had such a family, experience and personality – his magnet was crippled.
He wasn’t able to repel or attract any other normally.

Han Shi Yu was the same.

What they both lacked was exactly the shape that the other had.
When the two of them met, they became one.

After they were pieced together, Yang Mo was able to finally feel how the heart in his chest slowly awakened and started beating as vivid light and colours pumped out from it and flowed down his veins, coursing through his entire body.

Sometimes, he would fall into a long silence while staring at Han Shi Yu.
Or he would trace the outline of his face with his eyes.
Of course, he couldn’t let him find out about it though, or that guy would go even more overboard with him.

Others say that time is the best sharpening knife, but Han Shi Yu at 35 years old still remained the same, behaving in the same nature of doing whatever he wanted under the heavens and throughout the earth.

Yang Mo felt that the two of them must truly just be filling in the gaps, each taking whatever they needed or benefited them in this relationship.

Because how could he possibly fall for such a foolish idiot, if not?

In the workplace, Yang Mo had a computer bug-like existence in the IT world.

His colleagues said that when God was creating people, he must have gotten lazy and decided it wasn’t necessary to distribute the remaining leftover talent.
Hence, all of it was poured into one bowl.
And from that bowl, a proficient in all aspects Yang Mo was born.

They envied Yang Mo’s ability, but they also envied Yang Mo’s marriage.
This envy transcended even sexual orientation, becoming simply a sense of longing for that kind of relationship and love he had.

From time to time, they would get together to discuss and speculate the love story of President Han and Department Chief Yang, which must be a romantic one.

Mi Shu wouldn’t say a word, only smiling as she listened on.

She felt like they probably didn’t want to know, how Yang Mo had painstakingly raised a purebred Siberian sled dog for 17 years.

T/N: I couldn’t not fall for Yang Mo in this chapter, even more than I already have.
What happened in junior high school, his reason to fight and how he chose to shut his mouth even though it could clear his name – all because he wanted to protect that female classmate.
He protects others, it’s in his nature, but no one would protect and comfort him – but thankfully he met Han Shi Yu :’) Now Yang Mo has someone who would spoil him unconditionally, who would feel sad and upset in his stead and protect him.
This chapter made me so soft aaa-
