The Battle of the Alpha
Chapter 4
My vision began to blur as a result of blood loss. I could feel my body dwindling and becoming weaker. The wolfs breath smelled like a wet dogs meat. With all of my last effort, I shoved him away, and he fell into a tree. He was snarling and kicking his lips as he stood up and stalked toward me. I saw that my vision was fogged and that I had shifted back. I anticipated my fatal blow as I saw him pounce, but it never materialized. Before I lost consciousness, I heard a mans voice.
I groaned in irritation as the sun shone right in my eyes. When I tried to roll over, a wave of anguish swept over my body. I opened my eyes and found myself in a strange room. My defences rose right away. I felt the need to leave because of the strange room and the smell of pack territory.
The space was white and a soft blue. I was seated on what appeared to be a hospital bed with a few vacant chairs. There was a door off to my left and a sizable window with a lovely view of a mountain range off to my right. I had an IV in my arm and monitors attached to my chest. The individual here probably has a loud alarm. I took them out, so I had perhaps a few minutes or fewer to flee.
The window appears to be the simplest option. I wouldn have to try to sneak through a building that, based on how lovely and tidy it was, Im sure was inhabited by humans. I would only have needed to open the window, possibly break it, stay out of the way of others, and flee the area. without being discovered.
I appreciated the security cameras in the room. There was a black circle hanging from the ceiling by the door, but I couldn make it out. If this was a security camera, Id never seen one before; only the older models. I could lock the door and attempt to buy some time because it had a lock on the inside.
I gasped as I gasped up too quickly and held my ribs, only to feel additional pain. I was dressed neatly and freshly for the first time in a long time. I wore a large, thigh-length navy blue cotton shirt. My torso and ribs were covered in white bandages when I hoisted them up. I moaned as I searched about to find the injury. My ribs were shattered in a couple of places. My back felt like it had been stitched. I unzipped the white, warm blankets to find cool air and more bandages. My right leg was covered from the calf down.
