Six minutes was Ye Jian’s limit, but for many people, they would’ve lost their lives a long time before being without oxygen for six minutes underwater. 

Big Shark let out a long sigh of relief in his heart; he turned around and kept his emotions in check as he continued with the second test; no matter how impressive she was, she still wouldn’t belong to the Navy, let alone the Storm Commandos.

However, if a female soldier could overtake male soldiers, it doesn’t matter if she belongs to his own unit or not; that’s still a very excitable matter.

Remember this, Ye Jian, we need to record your best personal result and also the worst result.
In thirty minutes, I will average your results and check if you have passed or not.”

THE high CO2 tolerance test is a difficult test, diving under the ocean without carrying any oxygen sources with just one breath; when Ye Jian held her breath and dove towards the bottom o the ocean, she stopped her breathing as she closed her eyes and swam towards the bottom of the coral reef with movements of a fish.    

The oxygen levels in her blood were slowly dropping, the high concentration of carbon dioxide gradually made her body feel uncomfortable, her diaphragm muscles started contracting as it told Ye Jian that she needed to breathe, that she needed to float onto the sea surface to get some oxygen.

Relax, relax, your body must relax, let your body and your mind to slowly be unafraid of the gradually rising CO2 concentration, listen to the sound of water, feel the joy of the fishes swimming past your body, avoid disturbing yourself by factors such as fear, until her blood oxygen levels reached its limit, only then did Ye Jian quickly ascend.

“Your rest time shouldn’t be too long.
Otherwise, the CO2 content you accumulated so far would be excreted out of your body because you had more than enough rest, then that’ll miss the point of accumulating high levels of CO2.
If you float above the water surface for more than 30 seconds, the effects of CO2 accumulation will be really terrible.
Ye Jian, you have to control yourself to finish changing your breath within 20 seconds and dive into the water again.”

Big Shark’s rigorous voice reminded Ye Jian nonstop, with a stopwatch in one hand, the solemn expression on his face grew more prominent every time he waited for Ye Jian to change her breath and dive under the water again.

Changing breath under 20 seconds is actually quite a harsh target for new recruits.
Still, he truly wanted to know if Ye Jian could surpass the new recruits, that’s why he adopted the method of changing breath within 20 seconds that was slightly more dangerous for new recruits.    

For new recruits, changing breath within 20 seconds is quite dangerous, but for members of the Storm Commandos, giving them 20 seconds to change their breath was already too long.

In their breathing process, they would exchange all the gases in their lungs in every breath; frogmen only needed to rest for 15 seconds before they can go into their next High CO2 tolerance stage, the extra 5 seconds given to Ye Jian was after Big Shark’s several rounds of testing.
He concluded that it was a doable and conservative testing time.

Diving 15 meters underwater in one breath, Ye Jian, who had held her breath for two minutes, ascended once again and took a 15-second break.
Just like that, this was repeated for 30 minutes, until the entire test was over; even Ye Jian, who was capable of withstanding hard work, only felt that her entire body’s energy had been sapped away from her.
