de her feel like she was about to suffocate.

His arm was still bleeding, with teeth marks on her lower lip; Ye Jian kept adjusting her breathing, she wanted to hug him,… wanted to very, very badly.

She wanted to, so she did.

In front of Crane’s face, Ye Jian pulled back her arm that was gripped tightly by him and suddenly embraced the man who had always led her forwards.

Avoiding the gunshot wound on his arm, she embraced him strongly, tightly, as if afraid of losing him.

“I’ll wait for you to come home, I’ll wait for you to come home, so you must come home safely.”

She didn’t ask him how bad his injury was; she was afraid that if she asked that, she would lose her voice from sobbing too much.

Xia Jinyuan returned her hug very naturally and gently patted her back; his little fox’s heart was aching for him.

“I’ll definitely return home safely; I’ve told you I will always walk alongside you, forever.”

That was a promise from a man to a woman, to forever walk alongside you, never leaving nor abandoning you.

The tears immersed into his collars, one drop, two drops… in just a short embrace, his collars already had water marks left behind by her tears, “Mhm, I’ve committed it to memory, Captain Xia, I’ve properly remembered each and every sentence you had said into my heart.”

She really cared for him, cared so much that she desperately wanted to be able to stay by his side to face the dangers together.

With a heart as soft as water, Xia Jinyuan closed his eyes; he turned his head, giving a light and quick kiss on her ear, “Remember that properly, if I break my promise, I leave myself to your mercy.”

“Be good, let go; we’ll be in trouble if you don’t let go.” He said morosely.

Maybe because it was gentle kiss that instilled her with power, or because of his promise that made her calm down a lot, Ye Jian released her arms and turned her head towards Crane: “Roadrunner is already on his fourth magazine, if we don’t leave now, then it’ll be too late.”

She hadn’t let her guard down once; that was totally out of habit.

She tried her best to control her emotions, as she didn’t want Captain Xia, who was on his own mission, to worry about her; no matter how painful her heart was, she still wanted him to see her strong side.
