ten minutes, Madam Li bellowed at Du Jiayi: “You go and take a look at what’s going on in the conference room! See if they let you in.”

Du Jiayi had wanted to go there some time ago; now, with Madam Li’s orders, she immediately walked out of the office.

It was impossible for her to enter the conference room; the two security guards extended their arms and blocked the path, “Halt! The conference room is a restricted area; turn around immediately!”

“Pardon me; I wanted to get to Deputy Chief of Staff Du.
Can you please inform him? It’s an urgent matter.” Those standing outside couldn’t hear what’s going on within; Du Jiayi immediately brought out her own father’s name to see if she could be accommodated.

Without being given orders that they could let someone in, the security guards did not accommodate her wants; with expressionless faces, they “asked” Du Jiayi to leave immediately.

In the military base with stern guards, even if you had gone through multiple checkpoints when coming inside, that doesn’t mean you can simply wander around the base.

It was the same for Ye Jian and Xia Jinyuan.

The two of them were led by security guards as they walked straight over from the other end of the hallway, causing them to walk into Du Jiayi, who had just turned around to leave.

Her eyes focused and managed to have a clear look at who the young officer walking beside Ye Jian was; it was so surprising that Du Jiayi’s heart skipped a beat; she flusteredly averted her eyes and didn’t dare to stare at him.

Xia Jinyuan!

That’s right; he was without a doubt Xia Jinyuan, the man who had swept her a gaze earlier, that Xia Jinyuan who made her feel like she had lost her life.

The difference was quite huge if it wasn’t because his facial features vaguely resemble what she remembered, and after being reminded by her mother, she really couldn’t have recognized him.

Fierce gaze, handsome face, the militaristic air in every movement, in just an instant, she had already remembered his appearance.

It doesn’t matter if it was during her teenage years or the current her; whenever she encounters him, a frightening feeling would well up in her heart; she was so afraid that her instincts were urging her to get away from him.

Du Jiayi didn’t dare to stare at him for too long; she was afraid that she’d get scanned by those eyes that seemed like they could kill yet again.
