I was waiting anxiously for my turn.

The 5 seconds it takes to test someones affinity will decide whether I will be counted amongst the most talented people in the law alliance or some of the most untalented ones.

If i am the one mentioned by eye the oracle. The one with origin grade grade talent my life will change.

I will instantly become the member of night walker academys SSS-teir class. Not that it will happen.

I don believe in God but I prayed to every God I know of. Prayed that I had awakened atleast intermediate grade talent.

The 5th in the line had awakened medium grade water affinity

4th had awakened medium grade lightning affinity

3rd, intermediate grade earth affinity

2nd, medium grade ice affinity a deviant of water affinity

Soon only I and Arthur had yet to be checked. I was glad, even if i didn have the origin grade affinity my lil brother will. This could be considered a win win for me.

Next it was Arthurs turn. He walked forward and under the anxious gaze of his foster father Aron and the old man walked forward ”my name is Arthur. My innate affinity is medium grade darkness. After saying this he went ahead and touched the pillar. As soon as his hand touched the pillar a brilliant white light burst from the orb atop the pillar.

The whole sky turned white. After 3 or 4 seconds a second color started to emerge in the sky, pitch black.

The two colors fought for space and when the space occupied was 50-50 they seemed to enter a strange equilibrium.

After a while these colors started dispersing and then disappeared. The old man was flabbergasted. Only after bieng called out by arthur did he and rest of the people come to there senses.

”senior mage I did good right? ” Arthur asked with tear filled eyes.

The old man was scared senseless after seeing Arthurs verge of crying face. While stuttering he said ”n n nnnno i mean yes, yes you did a fantastic job ”

Only after seeing Arthurs mood better considerably did he heave a sigh of relief.

”Uncle, uncle ”

”yes little one? ” I think that if anyone else including me, a 9 year old had dared to call him uncle they would have been blasted to death on spot. But look at his face when someone with a origin grade affinity called him uncle. Like he won some kind of lottery.

”what grade is my affinity ”

”you have awakened a very special affinity. You have been blessed by fate. You awakened the origin tier fated affinity The Jokers ambrace this means that you have origin tier light and darkness affinity! ” Arthur nodded his like a chicken. He might be considered a toddler but he understood that the things happening are really good for him. The old man talked with Aron for a while and came to the conclusion that he will take Aron and Arthur to the capital. There he will help Aron find a job as a low end administrator in nightwalker academy. Arthur will be provided tutilage by eye the master of prophecies, a oracle.

He was about to pick up the pillar when I shouted.

”SIR I WASNT TESTED! ”

He glared at me for a moment.

”oh!, come here brat ”

I went ahead and before touching the pillar said

”my name is Arthur. My innate affinity is low grade fire ”

Then I touched the pillar. It felt as if something probed inside me, and then the feeling disappeared. The orb was glowing a golden hue. It was really dim.

Pffffffffff! He started laughing

”ha ha ha, kid you might be the person with the worst talent to ever exist. 1 low tier affinity sure it happens one or two times a century. But 2 low grade affinities that has never been recorded in the history of the law alliance. You have low grade fire and lightning affinity. You can… ”

He was saying something but I could not hear it. My mind was stuck on the low-grade lightning affinity. I have 2 low grade affinities? What the heck?

It means that I might never be able to enter core formation stage. Which again means that I will never be able to use magic or to say walk the path of rune master. My original plan was to gather money and practice runes with a paintbrush.

It will not work but will atleast serve well , and when I have enough money awaken my soul affinity to hopefully get atleast a medium grade affinity walk the path of rune master. But now all my hopes shattered.

After some packing the old man took uncle Aron and Arthur and flew off to the capital. Many people expressed me sorrow but i simply could not register them.

I slowly walked towards my home like a undead. Even some adults might have broke down when placed in my situation but I held on. It was sunset when I entered my home.

I took a bath until I calmed down. Then, I sat down on the bed and started organizing my thoughts. Afterall it was too much of a shock for a 9 year old who was also an orphan. Then, I started screaming.
